Yesterday was interesting. And ok. So that made me feel guilty. Got up, went to the credit union & got money, then sent the Polaroid film off to the winning bidder on Priority mail. So hopefully i'll still get a decent rating? Maybe it's too much to hope for. Then, searching for a flea market, & the internet directions were off. So, of course, parents start getting pissy & mother is all, "we're not trying this again." Which makes me sad because there's no flea markets that are closer to where we live. We did eventually find it, & i found things. Found another Phantom of the Opera disc set with a pristine booklet, & found a little something for Janna, & got some Beanie Babies. But the prizes-- what really makes me sad at the thought of never being able to go back there-- were the old things. I got three old photos & two old postcards. The one postcard is art nouveau, & is in French, but nothing's written on it. The second looks like it was bought & posted from Romania, & it's written on. The language is French, but the name of the couple to whom it is addressed seems distincly German. Kaufmann, i think. As for the old pictures, two of them were from a larger group, but i only took the two. I think they're of a local farm, once upon a time. There's writing on the back, so elegant & neat that you can barely read it. The photos are just a little underdeveloped, which adds to the overall feel; they're artistic, even though you're sure that probably wasn't the original intention. The final picture is of a woman who, according to the back, lived on Reisterstown Road, & is from the 40's, i think. It's colored in: her eyebrows are painted on & her eyes are painted green. Maybe i'll try to scan them, though i don't know how well they would... Then, got home, & found that i had finally-- finally-- received the Harry plush from Australia that i won in an online HP art thing. She also sent a Christmas card & two prints because she felt bad it had taken so long. Then the cousin showed up again, this time with a CD tower he was getting rid of. It holds almost all of my CDs, but there's about 12 or so that don't fit. It's full up. Despite all this-- probably because of all this-- i felt melancholy & low. I think i slept a little. Then Maggie called at seven something, i think. "You want to hang out?" she asked. I said, "Oh, right now?" jokingly. "Yeah, right now," she said. I laughed. "I was joking, Maggie," i said. But she, of course, wasn't. So i got a ride with Janna to Maggie's, & James & Nathaniel were there, & after random talking, we got to play with kittens, one of which tried to bite one of my toes. For some reason, cats make me skittish. I'm fine with dogs (i've been bitten at least once before, but i'm ok), relatively comfortable with them, but cats make me wary. They got tired & were sitting on each other, so Janna scooped the two of them up & we brought them back to their home. Then we ate random things (& talked), & then Nathaniel was tired, so we had to go because Maggie was taking us home all at once. Me, Janna, & Nathaniel snag Christmas songs to amuse Maggie, until we ran out & Janna & i sang Anastasia's "Rumor in St. Petersburg." Then got home & showered, & came down here. And am just getting tired, but am determined to make at least roughly the same word count i managed last year. (Current: 18,004.) 2:27 a.m. | November 30, 2008 |
